Socratic Seminar Reflexion #2

Socratic Seminar #2
Alejandro Camargo
Main Ideas
  • The Chinese Government is slowly banishing the one child rule.
  • Modi is trying to join religion with health advancements.
  • Modi is comparing Indian healthcare with a lot of years ago.
Most Interesting Fact
  • The most interesting fact that I heard in the discussion was the point of how the overpopulation is affecting the world to much.
  • A point that I disagreed with in the socratic seminar was Daniel's point of the environment, he said that the Buddists should be en charge of the nature but I did not think this would solve the question we were asking.
  • If I would be grading I would out for me a 3.75. I would put a 3.75 because I feel that I participated, asked questions, say my point of view, and more.  I would not put a four because I could have participated a little bit more and be more in topic.

Blogpost #6 Code of Honor

Code of Honor

1. Summarize your conversation:
A summary of a conversation with my parents was that I have to follow the code of honor under any circumstances; I have to take responsibility for myself and my work, be honest, I respect other people, I do not harass or intimidate anyone, and I follow all the bullets below each pillar.

2. Something new you learned about the code of honor:
Something new I learned was that you have to participate and get committed into a school organisation or activity.

3. A question you have for Mr. O'Malley or Mr. Merritt.
After looking at the code of honor I had one question, Are their or what are the consequences for not being involved in a school activity or organisation.

Civilization Essay

Alejandro Camargo
In the past week we have been looking at early civilizations and we have been doing projects about them. This time we had to chose two different civilizations and compare and contrast them. I chose The Harapan and the Ancient Egypt civilisations. The both civilizations have some things in common and somethings that are totally different. For example the Harapan's religion was Hinduism and later turned to Buddhism and the Ancient Egypt's believed in several different gods and in the sacred book.

Somethings that could have caused conflict between this two civilizations is religion. Religion could cause conflict because some people could think that everybody has to follow the Ancient Egyptian gods if not it was illegal or the other way around. This could cause a lot of fighting and problems between the two civilizations. Another factor that could have caused conflict is land. Land for this civilizations is very important. Even if they were far away they could go to win more territory, that would be another factor.

What could cause cooperation between this to civilizations is the Ancient Egypt's invention of papyrus paper and the Harapan's invention of the accurate measuring system so they could change and cooperate together. Also like the both civilizations are located in different places they could exchange the different crops. Another thing that can cause cooperation is having the river near because they will never fight for water.

I think that this two civilizations were big and important in the world at that time. If they would cooperate together they would be even better and bigger. But in the other hand if they decide to not help each other and start being rude to each other there would be a conflict and a fight between the two civilizations that could end up with the both of them very bad and not with the things they had then. I really liked studying about the early civilizations and watching the videos. But my favourite thing about this whole unit was learning about what each civilization invented.

CWW Questions

                CWW Questions
For the CWW trip I have a lot of high expectations from learning. I hope we can learn a lot from the nature and the native people who live there. My expectations for the physical activity is that we will hike a lot and walk. My expectations for team building are to make a lot of activities in group and with people that I don't know well.

Socratric Seminar Reflexion

Socratic Seminar
Alejandro Camargo
Main Ideas
1. The literacy rate in Pakistan is very low.
2. The government has to act quickly so there is a good future for the country.
3. Pakistan is in a complicated position because it has a lot of intern and outer problems including this one

Most Interesting Fact
  • For me the most interesting fact was the drop of the number of students enrolled in schools between Elementary and Middle School.
  • I disagreed with Asall's statement because the government has to solve all the problems and not wait because the others will grow more.
  • I would put for me a 3.75 because I participated and asked questions. I noticed that I could have contributed more to the discussion. That is why I think I should get a 3.75.

Homework/ Blog post #3

August, 29/2014

This week we learned and did a poster about the 5 themes of geography. I think it was a very fun activity making the poster because Mr. Wenstrand let us use our creativity and combine ideas with other kids. A thing that I thought was challenging was that we had to search for the definitions of the 5 themes of geography because it was hard concluding one when two people had different ideas. This changed how I think of the topic because it helped me get a clearer idea of the topic. This week was very fun and I learned a lot of things.

My Geography blog post

My Geography blog post
August, 21/2014

1.    I live in Bogota in a crowded apartment. In the city there are a lot of buildings and roads. There are a lot of people in the streets and also cars. Near were I live there are some parks with a to of trees and rivers in them.

2.   Bogota's precise location is 4.5981° N, 74.0758° W. Bogota's general location is Colombia and South America.  You can describe your general location looking at other parts of Colombia and then describe them all together.

3.   Colombia has in common to other countries in South America that it has rain forest and it has in common the culture because most people in Colombia and some countries in South America have the same religion, eat the same things, play the same sports. Another reason that we have in common with some countries in South America is that we have an awesome soccer team.

4.   The Migration to Colombia has affected us in having more people with no job, making a
our carson footprint bigger, and new ideas have affected our government.

5.   Colombia has changed in some ways due to human influence. Like before our cities weren't so big and didn't require so many jobs and left less carbon footprint. I think that it is possible to make people change because they try to get new jobs. Also people are trying to reduce our impact on the planet so they try to adapt to using less water, less electricity, etc...

Warm Up

Warm Up
Alejandro Camargo                                                   August, 19/2014

I think that blogger is a very good tool. It is very handy because you can access it in any computer or electronic in the world. It is a very useful tool to do assignments because it is easy to save and to post. What I don't like of blogger is that is hard to put pictures and videos in the blog. Another problem is when your internet is not working. An improvement in the school of using blogger is that we don't use so many papers and it helps the planet.
